Decades of Injustice: The Continued Suffering of Kashmiri Rape Victims at the Hands of Indian Forces
India has been using collective violence as a weapon to suppress the freedom movement. However, Kashmiri women are the biggest victims of bare Indian democracy in the Occupied #JammuAndKashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, from 1989 to 2020, 11224 Kashmiri women have been sexually abused by the Indian Army.
Similarly, in 1992, over 882 Kashmiri women were victims of gang rape.
As per a 1994 Human Rights Watch report, the Indian Army uses mass rape as a weapon of intimidation and collective punishment, with the Indian Army committing looting, massacres and rapes as reprisals against Kashmiri Freedom Fighters.
Further, Asia Watch reports 44 extrajudicial killings and 15 rapes in just one week. Violent actions by the Indian Army have continued for years due to the absence of a system of punishment and punishment, Asia Watch added.

More than 1000 rape cases are pending in Kashmiri courts. On April 19, 2023, a woman was raped by a BJP leader in #Baramulla district. Likewise, on October 10, 1992, 22 grenadier men gang-raped 9 women in Shokian of #Poona district.
International human rights organizations and NGOs raising voice for women's rights should bring the Indian army to justice for this brutality.
