A Kashmiri delegation staged a protest in front of the UN office in Geneva, underscoring systematic human rights violations by Indian armed forces in IIOJK.
The protest was staged to mark the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, Inhumane and Degrading treatment.
Led by Altaf Hussain Wani, and attended by key figures like Sardar Amjad Yousaf, APHC Gen Sec Parveez Ahmed Shah, Shamim Shawal, Dr. Waleed Rasool, Ms. Gazala Habib, and Ms. Haiqa, the protest aimed to shed light on the severe torture and human rights abuses faced by Kashmiris.
The speakers condemned the Indian government’s use of torture as a tool of control against Kashmiris’ struggle for self-determination.
They cited instances of physical abuse, electric shocks, and forced consumption of dirt and filthy water in military camps turned into torture centers.
So far, Indian forces have killed five hundred thousand Kashmiris, including over 250,000 in the Jammu region.
From January 1989 till October 27, 2023: the occupied region witnessed the following:
• total casualties: 96,262
• custodial/Fake encounter Killings: 7,316
• civilian arrested: 168,567
• structures/houses destroyed/damaged: 110,504
• women widowed: 22,963
• children orphaned: 107,914
• women gang-raped / Molested: 11,259
— The number of actual Indian troops present in the occupied territory is 1,501,000.
— The number of Indian Army soldiers is 750,000.
— The number of paramilitary forces is 535,000.
— Police personnel deployed are 130,000
— Special Police Officers are 35,000
— Village Defense Committees is 50,000.
It makes a grand total of 1,501,000 in the territory.
