Amid global digital transformation, Pakistan’s IT sector is emerging as a key driver of economic growth and innovation. WealthPK reports a significant rise in IT exports, showcasing untapped potential and opportunities.
“The increase in IT exports shows the sector’s resilience and adaptability,” said Asfand Yar Khan, Director General (IT) at the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication. He emphasized the importance of sustained growth through ongoing government support and strategic technology investments.
Government policies, including tax breaks and reduced regulatory barriers, have fostered a conducive environment for local startups and international tech companies. Key initiatives like the creation of specialized courts for IT disputes, the introduction of PayPal for international transactions, and the establishment of Special Technology Zones (STZs) have been crucial.
“The booming IT sector is boosting exports and creating significant employment opportunities,” noted Syed Junaid Imam, Member IT at MoITT. The freelance market in Pakistan’s IT sector includes over a million individuals integrated into the global gig economy.
