Pakistan has announced its intention to install the restored statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Kartarpur Sahib on Wednesday, June 27

The provincial government of Punjab, Pakistan has announced its intention to install the restored statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Kartarpur Sahib on Wednesday, June 27. This date coincides with the anniversary of his death. The nine-foot statue of the Sikh ruler, which had been targeted by vandals three times, has been meticulously restored to its former glory.

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Punjab's first Sikh Minister and President of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), has shared that the statue will be placed at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, in the presence of local and Indian Sikhs. The installation seeks to provide an opportunity for visiting Sikhs from India to pay their respects and admire the statue.

Originally situated at Lahore Fort in 2019, the statue portrays Maharaja Ranjit Singh riding an Arabian horse and was generously gifted by UK Sikh historian Bobby Singh Bansal. Despite facing multiple attacks, with the last significant damage taking place in August 2021, the decision to reinstall the statue at Kartarpur Sahib has been made in order to ensure its security and make it easily accessible for Sikh pilgrims.
