Chinese probe, successfully completed its 53-day mission to the far side of the Moon and returned to Earth
On Tuesday, the Chang’e-6, a Chinese probe, successfully completed its 53-day mission to the far side of the Moon and returned to Earth. The landing module of the spacecraft touched down at a designated site in Inner Mongolia at 2:07 pm local time, marking the end of a technically complex mission. The China National Space Administration celebrated the mission as a "complete success."
The spacecraft carried with it soil and rock samples collected from the previously unexplored far side of the Moon. Scientists are particularly interested in studying this region because its rugged features are less affected by ancient lava flows compared to the near side. The materials collected from this area hold the potential to deepen our understanding of the Moon's formation and its subsequent evolution over time.
It's worth noting that as part of this mission, Pakistan's lunar satellite iCube-Q was also launched, adding to the overall significance of this collaborative space exploration effort.
